About 1480 WCNS Radio

 

WCNS is best described as a full service community station broadcasting 24 hours a day seven days a week. Our program lineup includes entertaining DJs playing the greatest pop hits from the 60s & 70s, taking requests, and having listener contests for fun and prizes. The station first went on the air August 11, 1956.

WCNS News on the hour includes a CNN national-world report plus our local-regional-state update. Our morning and afternoon anchors each have been reporting here over 24 years.

WCNS
Sports broadcasts our own productions of the play by play games of Greater Latrobe High School and St Vincent College plus action on the networks of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
We have an arrangement to broadcast the Super Bowl and Final Four.

WCNS Community Service is helping over 180 Westmoreland County based non-profit organizations by providing them more than an $90,000 worth of advertising annually.

WCNS broadcasts on location from the Westmoreland Fair, Delmont Apple ‘n Arts Festival, Overly’s Country Christmas, grand openings, parades and special events throughout our coverage area.

WCNS community commitment uniquely features "Neighborhood Notes", "Jobcasts", Senior Lifestyle Shows, and campaigns for Red Cross blood drives, The Heart Walk, The Relay for Life and several other non-profit fundraising events.

WCNS in cooperation with the Latrobe Area Chamber of Commerce broadcasts the monthly "Good Morning Latrobe Area". hosted by President Andy Stofan. The Westmoreland Business Journal hosted by Westmoreland Chamber President Tom Sochacki.
